Shaun Cavalliere and Virginia Cavalliere heard an audible boom when they opened their living room window in the afternoon of Sunday on Gateway Boulevard. The house began to shake.

The Daily Independent reports that the Cavallieres will open their windows when a storm is approaching to breathe in the pleasant smell.

They got more this time than they had expected.

A large windstorm swept through the desert and ripped into their yard. It destroyed everything it came across, including their large barbecue smoker and children’s play set.

Shaun pointing to the end of his yard, said: “I used to have an aluminum dining table there. It was taken out by a strong wind and then blown there.”

The couple filmed the gustnado using their Ringtone cameras, despite remaining in the house while the gustnado was passing over.

Virginia described the garage of her neighbor as having been lifted off its foundation on one side by the strong winds. The metal doors were also swayed.

Shaun, despite the hundreds of figs, pomegranates, and other fruits that were torn off their branches by the storm pointed out all the damage that was caused, such as the lattice which, in the video clip, flew through the air and crashed into his family’s vehicle.

The Cavallieres had three children with special needs: Angela, Noah, and Khodie.

Khodie (11 years old) stood in front of the wreckage and twisted pieces of the beloved playground equipment he loved, saying, “I saw that white, big thing flying up.”

Angela, a 21-year-old woman, said that when the storm started she too was scared as the walls in her bedroom began to shake.

When I got up and stood, my legs started to shake. I assumed it was me. Angela replied, “I saw that the television was shaking so I immediately knew it to be a problem.

Virginia’s children with autism were particularly traumatized by the storm.

“Angela had an absolute meltdown… Virginia said, “The children were clinging to me and shaking.”

It twisted around the parked trailer of a neighbor and picked up the metal shed of their neighbor before moving into their yard.

Coffee runs her Therapeutic Horses company on a 10-acre farm with 40 horses, other animals and other livestock. She can’t remember when the gustnado first destroyed her large front-yard tree. It then flipped a metal outhouse and headed straight to the horse stalls.

The tornado picked up some shelters and tore off some roofs before hurling them in the air. Coffee said that it looked like a storm.

Coffee’s horse, a stallion, was found running about the farm and had to be calmed. Coffee tried to hold her stallion, who weighed several hundred pounds, as the roof of another stall was torn off.

“Run, Candee!” Coffee was on her way when the roof fell directly in front.

Coffee thought, “All that I could imagine was being decapitated on the roof.”

The roof instead snapped the water line nearby, which caused a water fountain to explode.

A hay bale that was about to be thrown 30 feet fell and damaged more than a dozen stalls. The camper was thrown into her own yard after landing in the neighbor’s.

The gustnado eventually left Coffee and went on to knock down power poles in Springer Street.

No animals were injured. Coffee said, “That’s a miracle,” as he fought back the tears.

Home Depot offered some donated materials for the repair of stalls. An anonymous donor made a donation in cash. Coffee estimates that storm damage was $5,000, however this estimate is low.

According to meteorologist Brian Oches at the National Weather Service, Hanford, it wasn’t picked up by their radar.

Oches, based on the descriptions of witnesses, believes that this event may have been a storm outflow or gustnado.
