An AT&T employee installed high-speed internet cable in the Norman neighborhood. This caused a leaky water pipe and damage to sprinkler systems, according to a woman from Norman. She says she is out almost a $1,000 in damages.
Joan Johnson claims she’s not even an AT&T client!
Johnson stated in an interview he gave to KFOR Wednesday that “basically all of the damage occurred right here”. “.
This is the area where AT&T’s fiber contractors have dug. “We didn’t know there was a issue until we switched on the sprinklers,” said she.
Although the problem is patched up and the grass has grown, the mess underneath still remains.
We didn’t realize it was AT&T, until sprinkler repair people arrived to make the repairs. She said that they had to dig and break the sprinkler wiring when they resurfaced.
The claim was rejected after she provided evidence of damage.
She expressed her hope to receive reimbursement after she spent nearly one thousand dollars of her own money.
The outcome hasn’t been as expected.
She said that Superior Construction called her.
They looked at pictures, and they never came out. But they said that it couldn’t be us. She said, “If it was us, we’d have known.”
She called KFOR to avoid the “runaround”.
KFOR reached out to AT&T and was told that the claim has been “closed for lack of pursue.”
A spokesperson for the same company said Wednesday the company is “collecting more information” regarding the claim.
Johnson received a voicemail early on Wednesday night informing her that the third-party claims management firm that investigated the original issue had reassigned the case.
He told KFOR that he asked KFOR to expedite Johnson’s claim, and hoped to receive a response by the end the week.
Johnson stated, “I hope that AT&T settles with me fairly quickly.”
If they do not, I will take them to the small claims court as I know that a judge would side with me. She said, “We have the documentation to prove our case and we are confident that a judge will side with us.”
