Officers arrested a man after spotting him committing criminal damage on the Frederick Douglass Monument in Belfast City Centre.
On patrol, officers from the Belfast District Support Team noticed that a man was drawing graffiti onto a statue in Lombard Street. They detained the man and a business owner nearby confirmed the man also had damaged his building.
The police also found a tag similar to this on the front door of TK Maxx in Rosemary Street.
He was arrested for three counts of criminal damages and is still in police custody.
The PSNI said that officers from the Belfast District Support Team, who were patrolling the City Centre today on proactive duty, observed a man aged 37 causing criminal damage to the Frederick Douglass Monument on Lombard Street.
The officers detained him quickly and the owner of a building on Lombard Street confirmed that the same man had also caused damages to the structure. They also found another tag at the entrance of TK Maxx in Rosemary Street, and the Police CCTV operator informed the officers that it was the same person.
The man is being held in Musgrave Custody Suite on three charges of Causing criminal damage.
